20% Off At UneeTee

$19.99 - $16.00

$21.99 - $17.60

Fairly hefty savings at Uneetee right now, because until May 2nd you can save 20% with the discount code LABORDAY.

I hate having to write "labour" with the American spelling, (but if I didn't, you wouldn't save any cash) so to make myself feel better, I wrote a poem with as many British English words as I could.
I was in dialogue with a dishonourable man,
Who sold me some jewellery - hot.
Gold chains by the metre, the price even sweeter
So I draughted a cheque on the spot.

When hauled up in court, what was my retort,
For receiving hot gold by the ounce?
"Though my judgement's impaired, I'm no fence," I declared,
"It's ok - the cheque's going to bounce."

New Real Genius T-Shirt From Found Item Clothing

Our friends at Found Item Clothing have finally rounded out their Real Genius collection with their last as-seen-on-screen tee from the classic 80s comedy.

Their slavish attention to detail is rewarded with this four colour sartorial oddment, featuring ashen-faced TV cowboy Roy Rogers sporting a commemorative Olympic Stetson. Don't try and makes sense of it, it makes none.

ShirtFight

ShirtFight are one of the newer ongoing design competitions, with a $500 prize for the best t-shirt design to fit that week's theme.

Miss Etti from ShirtFight has sent me a few promotional emails in the past with updates about the site, but like many (actually, most) of the emails I get, I hadn't got around to writing up an article on them. Instead of "putting me on blast", Marieta got back in touch, with a stunningly comprehensive email that left me with no excuses for not featuring them.

It included an exclusive discount code for you guys - you can save 10% with the code "Thunderfrogs" - and an affiliate link for me (if you buy something, I get a small commission), as well as offers of samples, reciprocal links, and interviews. This is an excellent approach to promotion which sets her business head and shoulders above most of the competition, who expect us bloggers to write about them just because it's what we do.

But what of the t-shirts? The standard is high, with a few familiar names and a variety of styles on show. This week's subject is "shirts of the future". Here's one of the submissions, currently up for voting:

Design By Humans Spring Closeout Sale!

I would be very remiss in my duties to you if I didn't let you know about this as soon as I can - it's the best Design By Humans sale ever!*

At these prices they won't hang around - tees are priced from $12, which in many cases is half price. What should you get? If you're particularly large or small, how about this one by Rikki B, who I'm hoping will be my next interviewee for Pop Culture Tees.

$24 $12

What are you waiting for, go check 'em out!

*So they tell us.

$17 from Threadless

I like it. It's stylistically very similar to Olly Moss's Food Chain, though with a few extra jokes.

Tolky Monkys - My Prizes!

You remember I blogged about the big Tolky Monkys giveaway? They were asking you to come up with a name and a story for their new characters. Well, as well as blogging about the competition, I entered it - and won - on both Hide Your Arms, and Tee-Junction! In addition, I won another t-shirt in the "secondary blogs" category, just for telling you guys about it! I know, cool right?

So today my prizes arrived: I got two polo neck t-shirts and a sweatshirt, as well as a couple of plastic wallets and some stickers. Here's the picture I tweeted this morning when the parcel arrived:

And here's me just now, trying one on:

The t-shirts come with a detachable label that tells you about the character featured on that tee, in both English and Spanish. The cloth is good quality, especially the sweatshirt, which should be nice and warm for autumn/winter wear. If I was looking for something to criticise it would be the ink - it's fairly thick, though I'm sure it will be less stiff with a few washes, and it does make for some punchy colours.

Thanks Tolky Monkys!

Godmachine: As Seen In Porn

The talented UK designer Godmachine recently had some exposure on a popular website, when one of the "actresses" on the Bangbros site Big Tits Round Asses was wearing a t-shirt he designed.

You can (if so inclined) check out more photos from the shoot, and a sample video, here - though be aware, we are talking about explicit hardcore pornography here, and so it's therefore not suitable for minors, work, or anyone that doesn't want to see hardcore porn.

Seen it? Done it? Buy the t-shirt.

Hi, I'm Roberta From Spotify

Since late last year, UK residents have been able to stream music instantly (and legally) on their computers - for free - via a p2p desktop application called Spotify.

The catch? Every so often, your playlists are interrupted by (short and relatively unobtrusive) adverts - many of which are for their "premium" service which allows you to listen without interruption for a monthly fee.

Oddly enough, the chirpy female voice which identifies itself as "Roberta from Spotify", there to inform you about the benefits of their subscription services, has a following of her own. My own lazy google search revealed that others have gone to greater lengths to sate their interest in the mellifluous maiden; message boards are aflame with adulation for her, Spotify have had numerous requests for face-to-face interviews, and a fan site has been launched.

Inevitable then, the t-shirt:
It's a fairly lazy effort from MySoti user forTEEwin, white helvetica on a black tee, but he gets props for being first.

Fortunately for us, Flickr user Rsms has tagged the lady in question in some of his photos, so we can finally see who's disembodied voice is infiltrating our earholes:

Oh well, while we are objectifying her, marks out of ten?

I'd give her one. ;)

Tee Review: Fat American

At last! The long overdue Fat American tee review!

Alex and the guys from Fat American were so pleased with the write-up I gave them back in January, they got in touch to offer me a free t-shirt by way of thanks. The only stipulation: my selection had to be from the main store, not from the "fundraiser" range of tees from which a portion of the sale goes to a good cause.
Well, they have a fairly wide range of left-wing political tees to choose from, but I had my heart set on this stunning School of Americas tee, so I ponied up for the charity element and a contribution towards the shipping.

The SOA of the tee is the School of Americas, an American training facility in Georgia where the US has - since 1946 - trained South Americans in subjects including torture, extortion and execution in order to further US political interests in the region. All of the profits from the sale of this tee go to SOA Watch, a non-profit organisation which wants to close the school, and change the oppressive US foreign policy.

It's an American Apparel blank, which you probably already know run fairly slim, so most people buy a size up. This is a large, which fits nicely on me. The print is great quality, and nice and soft. In fact, I love this t-shirt! It gets heavy rotation in my wardrobe, and the combination of great design and meaningful political protest make this one of my favourite tees. I have 60+ t-shirts, and I'd put it in the top ten.

Thanks Alex!

Moon Madness

True story:
In 1976, Cosmonaut Nikolai Peckmann was sent alone to an orbiting space station for what would be called Mission Six- to study the radiation levels and strange circumstances that killed all four crewmen of the last research mission.
By the third day, Peckmann's broken transmissions were coming back to ground control filled with increasing paranoia and delusion. He claimed that the spirits of the dead cosmonauts were coming to claim him, and that he had to keep moving to evade them. He shouted that if he could capture consume these spirits himself while he still had strength, he could move to the next level of consciousness...Truly the rantings of an insane man.
Indeed, video recovered later would show Peckmann running around the confined but maze-like station, downing emergency sedatives like a madman....pausing in a corner momentarily, only to throw back vitamin pills and give chase to his invisible demons.
He had exhausted the entire cargo of vitamins, pills, and fresh fruit well ahead of schedule. There was no way another crew could be assembled to rescue him before he starved. After one rather violently garbled transmission, the static cleared and the last live image on record is that of Peckmann's empty, wilted spacesuit on the cabin floor.
It was determined that another mission to recover any remains or gather any more research would be a waste of the people's money, and the station was allowed to drift out of orbit and into space- a failure never to be mentioned again. It was ordered and assumed that all video and paper evidence had been destroyed.

..then, at the dawn of the eighties, a fledgling arcade game company called NAMCO would stumble across the transcripts of these events, and the rest -as they say- is history.

Glow In The Dark Colours From Threadless

I heard a rumour about glow in the dark ink in a variety of colours earlier in the year, and now Threadless has the technology.

These seven new inks are much brighter than standard glow-in-the-dark ink, and will open the door to a whole new dimension in creativity.

To launch the range, 'Night and Day' by Ross Zietz, a dual slogan tee featuring a detailed lunar landscape.

I would like to see a t-shirt featuring a peaceful pastoral scene by day, but night reveals a secret pitched lightsaber duel. You could also do a super-cool Pac-Man t-shirt, now that the ghosts can each glow in their original colours.

Identification Fail

'Greece' t-shirt - $20 from Busted Tees

The mislabelling on the t-shirt is obviously a joke. The confusion in the video, on the other hand, is genuine - which makes it much, much funnier.

Bonus: Taxonomy Fail
