New Unique Wallets At Resist Today

Resist Today make my favourite wallets. They do. I just wish they would make them a bit less expensive. These one-of-a-kind numbers they've been putting out recently are very nice and all, but they do carry a hefty price tag. Personally, I'm less concerned with the level of exclusivity than in making sure I have some change to put into my brand new wallet. I'd prefer to see them produce a less limited range at a more affordable mark-up.

However, if you have $50 to drop on a new 100% cotton bi-fold, you couldn't go wrong with one of these - they're convenient, comfortable, hard-wearing, and they fold in half so easily...

Tee Invaders Attack!

With so many new players entering the t-shirt design contest game, it's hard to judge their future success early on. One of the best things a new site can do is pay some of the t-shirt designer heavyweights to create designs for sale before the first contest begins. This is a great way to introduce the quality of your prints and set the pace by using top-notch designs. It also creates a little launch buzz because the design influentials carry some clout in that space.

So far so good for Tee Invaders because they have accomplished both. The first couple of designs they've printed came from well-known designers such as J3Concepts and AJ Dimarucot. Their familiar names and the quality associated with them adds to the Tee Invaders' overall credibility.

This is definitely a site you need to put on your radar, as they've launched with a really strong line-up. Here are the three initial offerings they have on their site:

New At Found Item Clothing

A straight up facsimile of the tee seen in 1984's campus comedy Revenge Of The Nerds, this "Gimme head till I'm dead" tee has been painstakingly reproduced in puffy ink (and having seen the screencaps, I can vouch for the historical accuracy).

For the uninitiated:

If you don't like your beer rodeo cool (read: hot), or have reason to disguise your taste in beverage, then this understated, generic "beer" can cooler is right up your alley. Based on the generic product labelling from the movie Repo Man, this neoprene wonder will cool your beer at the social occasions of your choice - a steal at $4.95.

Protip: If you sign up for their email newsletter, you're in with a chance of winning a $50 gift certificate to the store, every month.

Transformers Fever At 80sTees

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is due out on Friday here in the UK (the week after in the US), and to get you in the mood 80sTees is offering 10% off anything in stock with the discount code TRANSFORM (only valid until June 19th).

It seems robots rocking out is a popular theme on t-shirts these days, as Rude Retro found out.

I hear Megan Fox is even hotter this time...

Randr Tees Sale

For the next 2 weeks, all stock is discounted - by up to 55% - in the Randr sale.

Though I normally loathe skull designs, this is a nice take on an over-used design element:

Site News

Recently you may have noticed a great guest post by Tim Cigelske, aka Teecycle Tim, on why you are what you wear. In true quid pro quo fashion, I also contributed an article to the Teecycle blog - a fairly lengthy discourse on what the future holds for the t-shirt industry.

I also published another interview at Pop Culture Tees; this time I got to know Australian designer (and fellow Douglas Adams fan) RikkiB.

You may have noticed a couple of posts from Blake of You Design It, an industry insider with a close eye on popular trends. Hopefully Blake will continue to contribute every few weeks. If anyone else would like to contribute an article to Thunderfrogs, drop me a line and we'll take it from there.

In other news, FeedBurner tells me Thunderfrogs now has 99 RSS subscribers! I'd like to thank you all for reading, and I would love to celebrate topping 100 subscribers (which should happen soon) with another competition. If you fancy sponsoring, get in touch!

Three Wolves Howling At The Moon

Have you heard about the Three Wolf Moon T-shirt? If you haven't, you might want to crawl out from underneath the rock you've been living under because this shirt can change your life. Don't believe me? Just read the customer reviews on the Amazon page where you can purchase the shirt.

What started out as a joke review has turned into an overnight t-shirt sensation on the internet. They're currently selling over a hundred shirts an hour and can barely keep up with the orders. The shirt has also moved to the number one seller in the apparel category for Amazon.

The sales have been fueled by the sarcasm in the customer testimonials as people try to one-up each other with better stories. Each funny anecdote brings about new awareness to the awesomeness that this tee bestows upon the owner.

I guess this shirt really does have special powers. ;)

Favela, by Sabina Iglesias Arvide (aka wabi sabi)

Favelas are poor shanty towns in Brazil, usually large slum areas on the outskirts of the big cities. In Rio they tend to be ruled by the drug lords, and are rife with drugs and crime. If you would like to learn more about life in Brazil for the poor, I recommend three movies: City of God (Cidade de Deus), Elite Squad (Tropa de Elite), and the fantastic documentary Bus 174 (Ônibus 174).

A favela é, um problema social.
